Dear Hannah, little Gabriel, and the Suko family;
I am so so sorry about the loss of Gabe--a brave soldier, husband, father, son, brother, friend. My heartfelt prayers go out to all of you and his extended family at this difficult time. I have so much gratitude for all of those serving and protecting our country, and putting their lives on the line for such a high duty. I pray at this time that God would draw you all into Himself and provide the comfort that is so greatly needed at this time.
Psalm 10 has a passage, "But you, O God, see trouble and grief; you consider it and take it to hand. The victim commits himself to you; you are the helper of the fatherless." I pray for God's abundant protection upon little Gabriel and pray for Him to strengthen Hannah at such difficult time. I pray that God uses Gabes's life for His glory, and that his fellow soldiers would be influenced for eternity by the life that he lived. I was reminded this week how important it is for us to be lifting up our soldiers and praying for their families as well.
I miss all of you at Discovery Baptist Church so much and look forward to my next visit. Thank you for providing such awesome support during this difficult time. Lots of love and prayers from DC.
In Christ Jesus,
Ruhiyyih

Hannah,
My heart is aching for you. I don't know the pain you are going through or the emotions that you are facing, but I do know our God is faithful and I will be lifting you up in prayer. By the stories that I was able to read on the news posted about him, your husband left a legacy by living for Jesus Christ, and I hope and pray that the other soldiers with him were able to experience the Lord's steadfast love through his life. God bless you and little Gabriel.

Hannah,
I know I haven't talked to you or seen you in forever but I just wanted to let you know how greatly sorry I am for the loss of your husband. My parents called me and told me what happened. I never met him or even knew about him until now, but I already know he was a great man... an honorable man, that I will one day get to meet in heaven.
My prayers are with you, your family, and Gabe's family!

Dearest Hannah & little Gabriel,
We couldn't pass up this opportunity to tell you again how much we love you and how proud we are of Gabe and his heroic sacrifice for our freedom! Our hearts are unspeakably overwhelmed with sadness and hurt at this time, but there is something even more overwhelming... and that is the beautiful grace and hope God gives as we realize that He has an amazing plan for all that has taken place — a plan that is bigger and more awesome than we could possibly understand. (Rom. 8:28, 29) No one loves both of you (and Gabe) more than our Lord, and we know He's going to honor Gabe's life and sacrifice by touching thousands of lives for good. Even as we write this note to you, we honor Gabe by remembering his sacrifice and by purposing to love the Lord and others more than before.
Hannah, you are such an inspiration to us. Behind every great man stands a great woman, and we are so grateful to have you as our beautiful sister and friend. God has a wonderful plan for little Gabriel as well, and you can rest assured that nothing will keep the Lord from raising him up to be a man after God's own heart — just like his dad.
"Heavenly Father, we ask you to bless dear Hannah and little Gabriel with warm comfort and with a peace that words can't even describe. Give them strength and hope — a hope that knows you will honor Gabe by drawing the hearts of many, many people closer to Yourself."
All our love, Chris & Ruth

Hi,
I heard about this tragic loss through Caleb Suko. He visited our church, First Baptist Church of Redmond, not to long ago. My prayer is with you and your family.
Although I didn't know your husband, I do know that he is with Jesus.
Please be strong for all of us and including your husband.
Tunde.

First I wanted to say that I am so sorry for your loss. My name is samantha smith. I was in the army for 7 years. I had never been to Iraq but many of my friends have either been seriously injured or lost their lives to the war and it has been very heartbreaking for me. I do not personally know SGT DeRoo but I was stationed on fort lewis and have seen him around. Even though the war has had some good outcome it still doesnt cover for the pain that we all may have for losintg a loved one. I served my country proud. The one thing that I have learned is that I can not live in the flesh and that god has a purpose to all. The cards in my life were not dealt to me very fair and didnt have my parents in my life and I sacrificed serving for my country like all the soldiers do. However I know it is through god that I was able to get through all this and although it will be hard for you to be without him I know that gods love will give you peace in these hard times and his life is a shining example to what a good christian man he is and how others have come unto christ. My deepest condolences for you and your family and I will be praying for you all. Its people like him whos shown the way and the truth to come unto christ and make me greatful to be a christian. God bless you all.

Dear Hannah,
I heard about the loss of your husband through some email correspondence to our church, Silverdale Baptist. We support Caleb and Christina as missionaries. Please know that I am remembering you and pleading for your comfort and strength before our God of all comfort. My heart goes out to you and your infant son.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

Dear Hannah and Baby Gabriel,
Words cannot begin to express our sorrow. Our hearts go out to you and little Gabriel during this time of loss. You are continually in our thoughts and prayers. We are proud to have known Gabe. We also thank God for you and friendship you have given. You are such an example and testimony of Gods love! God has such an amazing plan for you and little Gabriel and is going to use you to impact the world in such a powerful way. We are here for you every step of the way and want you to know how much we love you! We look forward to the day we will once again be reunited with Gabe and our Lord! And the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus! (Phil. 4:7) All our Love.

To all of Gabe's family,
Gabe graduated from high school with our son, Andy. The news of his passing breaks our hearts. We will always remember what a kind sweet young man Gabe was. We are keeping you in our prayers and asking for God to bring you His peace that passes understanding, to sustain you through this terribly difficult time.

Dear Hannah and family,
I feel such sorrow for you and your family, but rejoice in the fact that Gabriel is a child of God and one day you will be reunited in Heaven with all the saints. I don't know you or Gabriel and only have heard of this sorrow from your brother Caleb....but know that your family in Christ holds you up in prayer. May you find the peace that only comes from our Father in Heaven to carry you through these days ahead. A friend in Christ, Darlene Regan
