Dear Hannah,

The Lord gave me a special blessing at your sister Ruths bridal shower. He allowed me the honor of sitting next to you and getting to know you a little...you and your family were willing to be used of the Lord in protecting our country and our freedoms and securing these blessing for our future generations. I know freedom is not free and your sacrifice filled my heart with gratefulness as I know what it costs. You and little Gabe will forever be in mine and my family's prayers. We will not forget your awesome sacrifice and if there is ever anything we can do for you...please don't hesitate to ask. You, Gabe and little Gabe are heros in our eyes! Thank you, Hannah!

Dear Hannah and Little Gabe,

For the short time I knew Gabe, he made the biggest impact on mine and Eric's life. Everyday when he came home from work, he would mention him. And even though I wasn't that close to him, I felt like I was because of all the great stories Eric would tell me every single day. He was such a good rolemodel to Eric and all of the guys. I wanted Eric to look up to him, and he did. I can't remember how many times I told him, "Be more like Gabe.." or "What would Gabe do in this situation?.." He really impacted our lives more than you will ever know, and I know you will raise Little Gabe to be just like him. I am truely sorry for your loss. He was one of the greatest men I have ever known, and I think of all of you every single day.
We will never forget his or your sacrifice. We love you Gabe, and we will miss you until we see you again.

My dearest daughter Hannah and little granson Gabriel. I have been thinking about what I would like to put here and the Lord made it clear while fixing your fence two weeks ago. I had promised Gabe to help keep your house up and watch out for you before he left. While in Gabe's little work shed getting some tools I noticed a black coffee cup in the corner with words on it "Real Men are Godly." He had purchased that cup at church last year during our special Men's Discipleship study. Gabe exemplified that theme. He was a real man but godly also. He was a soldier's soldier who kept in shape but also a loving and caring husband and selfless person. That is a rare combination. It was a privilege to have had him in our discipleship group and see him grow. I pray some day little Gabe will be encouraged to follow in his father's footsteps and be a real and godly man too. I know God has given you unusual strength to guide him. He is blessed with a wonderful example in both of you. Love you. Dad.

It was a great privilege to have him for a son-in-law and prayer partner. I have no regrets.

I just spoke with the Pastor of Discovery Baptist Church today about the AWANA's program for our children. He shared with me about the loss of his son-in-law and told me of this web page. I am deeply moved and saddened by this loss. My heart goes out to the famiy and especially to Hannah and her dear son. May you have the comfort of family and friends to help you during this time. And know you are in my prayer's - someone you have never met will be thinking of you and your sweet little boy!

I was told about this website by a dear friend of mine. My 11 year old son was a pen pal with Nathan Lambert while they were in Iraq. I pray that the Lord will give you peace and strength. Just remember God only cries for the living for those are the ones left to carry on, He has your precious Gabe, and has blessed him more than you could imagine. My prayers are with you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in these time of both great sorrow and joy. The sorrow is for the loss of a loving husband and wonderful father the joy is in knowing that he is with his farther in heaven. We cannot begin to comprehend the deep pain that you are experiencing at the death of your dear Gabe, but we know that the only One who does fully understand will give you comfort and be your Guide. My thoughts and prayers are with the DeRoo family. I am honored to have had someone I love serve with Sgt. DeRoo and am eternally grateful for his service to our country. I recieved a couple of letters from Gabe while in Iraq the first time. My son Nathan was in his squad and I had sent them all a Christmas package. I was so impressed by so much in Gabe mostly his love for the Lord and for his bride to be. We pray that God will fill you with His love and comfort until we see Gabe again. The memory of Gabe has made us better people, stronger Christians and prouder Americans. You never realize how much you miss someone or how much of an effect they have on you until they are gone. Gabe was that person, that soldier, that friend, that brother, that husband, that father and most of all that man of God. May Gabe's legacy live on in all our hearts.

I'll Never forget Gabe. He may not have been my best freind but he certainly made an impact on my life. I wish now i had gotten to know him better. The few times we did hang out together were a lot of fun. He was a very good person. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

You are so amazing I write this without being able to comprehend the pain that you are going through. I know that through this all the Lord will bring you closer to Him, I pray for you often. I am so thankful that I was alble to meet Gabe and spend some time with you two. I know that he was your hero even before he left this earth. We had the opportunity to meet your brother, Caleb, and his beautiful family when they visted Eatonville Baptist Church. We heard of your loss through their newsletter and wanted to offer our prayers to you and the rest of your family at this difficult time. While he is no longer here physically, it sounds like he has left a wonderful legacy behind for his son, you and the rest of his family. I knew Sgt.Deroo when he was a Private,and he was a great soldier and a great person.He always had a smile on his fae and was always laughing at SPC Hickson's goofiness.He was a brother to us all in the Infantry Family,and the Stryker Brigade.His name will live on in our hearts and in our minds,and will never be forgotten.
